Private Placement Insurance Products
Private placement insurance products (PPIP) are comprised of private placement life insurance policies and private placement annuities. PPIP maintain the same structure as traditional variable insurance products, including separate account protection, state regulated policy forms, and preferential tax treatment. However, PPIP provide benefits typically not available with traditional insurance products, such as institutional pricing and access to nontraditional investment managers.
PPIP are exempt from registration under the Securities Act of 1933 and are not subject to regulation under the Investment Company Act of 1940. As a result, PPIP may only be purchased by specific types of purchasers (i.e., Accredited Investors and Qualified Purchasers). Consequently, PPIP offer a unique insurance solution for a select marketplace.
